TAOtapping at the NSA

Yeah, let's dance:

"NSA spyware said to be on some computers" by Raphael Satter |  Associated Press, December 30, 2013

LONDON — A German magazine lifted the lid on the operations of the National Security Agency’s hacking unit Sunday, reporting that American spies intercept computer deliveries, exploit hardware vulnerabilities, and even hijack Microsoft Corp.’s internal reporting system to spy on their targets.

Der Spiegel’s revelations relate to a division of the NSA known as Tailored Access Operations, or TAO, which is painted as an elite team of hackers specializing in stealing data from the toughest of targets.

Would TARGET have been ONE of them?

No wonder NSA can't find them!

Citing internal NSA documents, the magazine said that TAO’s mission is ‘‘getting the ungettable’’ and quoted an unnamed intelligence official as saying that TAO had gathered ‘‘some of the most significant intelligence our country has ever seen.’’

But they can't find the Target hackers?

**********************

The NSA does not just rely on James Bond-style spy gear, the magazine said.

The propaganda pre$$ romanticization of spies is sickening.

Some attacks described by Der Spiegel exploit weaknesses in the architecture of the Internet to deliver malicious software to specific computers. Others take advantage of weaknesses in hardware or software distributed by some of the world’s leading information technology companies, including Cisco Systems Inc. and China’s Huawei Technologies Ltd., the magazine reported….

Oh, that makes us all feel real safe and snug!

The magazine suggested the agency was ‘‘compromising the technology and products of American companies.’’

Yeah, well, I really don't give a f*** about AmeriKan bu$ine$$es and their bottom lines when they are aiding and abetting total $urveillance tyranny.

**********************

TAO could tap its allies in the FBI and the CIA, intercept the hardware in transit, and take it to a secret workshop where it could be discretely fitted with espionage software before being sent on its way.

Then NO ONE IS SAFE if the FBI and CIA are under NSA TAOES!!!

So much for secrecy for intelligence agencies!

No, he was actually much worse than that.

Intercepting computer equipment in such a way is among the NSA’s ‘‘most productive operations’’ and has helped harvest intelligence from around the world, one document cited by Der Spiegel said….

The NSA’s alleged ability to spy on Microsoft’s crash reports system is intended to help Microsoft engineers improve their products and fix bugs, but Der Spiegel said the NSA was also sifting through the reports to help spies break into machines running Windows….

Looks like the NSA is HELPING ITSELF!

Microsoft said that information sent by customers about technical issues in such a manner is limited. ‘‘Microsoft does not provide any government with direct or unfettered access to our customer’s data,’’ a company representative said in an e-mail Sunday. ‘‘We would have significant concerns if the allegations about government actions are true.’’

OMG!

'course, they can't say anything "even if" it is all true, which it is.

Time to get on a big old jet airliner….

"Background checks expanded at US airports; Car registrations, job data examined" by Susan Stellin |  New York Times, October 22, 2013

NEW YORK — The Transportation Security Administration is expanding its screening of passengers before they arrive at the airport by searching a wide array of government and private databases that can include records such as car registrations and employment information.

WhyTF would they need to know those things?

Although the agency says that the goal is to streamline the security procedures for millions of passengers who pose no risk, the new measures give the government greater authority to use travelers’ data for domestic airport screenings. Previously that level of scrutiny applied only to individuals entering the United States.

Or you can pay to sidestep security and go straight to the lounge.

It's a true fa$ci$t nation now, folks, not the misrepresented version provided to you by the AmeriKan ejewkhazion $y$tem and its ma$$ media jew$papers.

The prescreening, some of which is already taking place, is described in documents the TSA released to comply with government regulations about the collection and use of individuals’ data, but the details of the program have not been publicly announced.

Yeah, government you pay for has a right to privacy; you, citizen of AmeriKa and the world, have none.

It is unclear precisely what information the agency is relying upon to make these risk assessments, given the extensive range of records it can access, including tax identification number, past travel itineraries, property records, physical characteristics, and law enforcement or intelligence information.

The measures go beyond the background check that the government has conducted for years, called Secure Flight, in which a passenger’s name, gender, and date of birth are compared with terrorist watch lists. Now, the search includes using a traveler’s passport number, which is already used to screen people at the border, and other identifiers to access a system of databases maintained by the Department of Homeland Security.

My advice to anyone anywhere is DO NOT FLY WITHIN or TO the UNITED STATES!

Either GO SOMEWHERE ELSE or STAY HOME! DO NOT COME to AmeriKa under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE at all!

If you have business concerns, use the internet and teleconferencing.

Whatever you do, world, DO NOT FLY on an AMERIKAN PLANE!!

Privacy groups contacted by The New York Times expressed concern over the security agency’s widening reach.

Are they serious?

With Al-CIA-Duh stronger than ever and a missing nuke on the loose somewhere?

“I think the best way to look at it is as a pre-crime assessment every time you fly,” said Edward Hasbrouck, a consultant to the Identity Project, one of the groups that oppose the prescreening initiatives. “The default will be the highest, most intrusive level of search, and anything less will be conditioned on providing some additional information in some fashion.”

Not only are we approaching Orwellian Minority Report status, I suspect the next advancement in airport security will be a thorough anal inspection of every passenger. Pervert is now become a job qualification for government work.

The TSA, which has been criticized for a one-size-fits-all approach to screening travelers, said the initiatives were needed to make the procedures more targeted.

“Secure Flight has successfully used information provided to airlines to identify and prevent known or suspected terrorists or other individuals on no-fly lists from gaining access to airplanes or secure areas of airports,” the security agency said in a statement. “Additional risk assessments are used for those higher-risk passengers.”

Nearly shit my pants reading that.

An agency official discussed some aspects of the initiative on the condition that she not be identified. She emphasized that the main goal of the program was to identify low-risk travelers for lighter screening at airport security checkpoints, adapting methods similar to those used to flag suspicious people entering the United States.

Yeah, it's all to help you get on the plane quicker, yup.

Anyone who has never traveled outside the United States would not have a passport number on file and would therefore not be subject to the rules that the agency uses to determine risk, she said, although documents indicate that the agency is prescreening all passengers in some fashion.

Screen this.
